TAKING CHARGE ENTERTAINMENT introduces AMANDA LATONA
She was born Amanda Marie Latona on March 24, 1979 in her hometown of
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to parents Arlene and Andrew. At the age of
11, Amanda auditioned for the title of Mouseketter on the infamous
children's show, Mickey Mouse Club, but was beat out by 9 year-old
Christina Aguilera. No biggie! The Latona family packed up and moved
to Orlando, Florida when Amanda was just 15 years-old. There she met
her first friend in Orlando, Joey Fatone (N'Sync).
Orlando is the place where Amanda Latona began to sow her performing
roots. She auditioned, once again, for the people at Disney and
although the character was a little less demanding than being a
Mouseketter, the spot was perfect for Amanda! Her first role came
playing Pocahontas at the world famous theme park, Disney World.
Playing Pocahontas eventually led to roles as Ariel (Little Mermaid),
Belle (Beauty & the Beast) and even Mary Poppins!
Role-playing at Disney World was great but singing was what Amanda was
interested in. Eventually, she landed a spot in the singing group
Hollywood Hi-Tones and this is where she met N'Sync's first official
member, Chris Kirkpatrick.
Hollywood Hi-Tones was great but it didn't give Amanda the exposure
she
truly deserved. In steps Lou Pearlman and the management skills of
Justin Timberlake's mommy, Lynn Harless. Nikki, Danay, Veronica,
Mandy
and Amanda released their first single "Wherever You Are" as the five
member girl group, Innosense. The girls toured most of Germany and
Amanda had it made! Innosense was her first official professional gig
but it wasn't all happy times. In 1999 Amanda left the group to
pursue
a solo career. (Much like another former Innosense member, Britney
Spears!)
Amanda is back in Florida now living with her Backstreet Boy, A.J.
McLean. Amanda's popularity sky-rocketed and thousands of websites
devoted to this rising solo star popped up everyday. She soon began
performing at Universal Studios in the Beetled Juice show as the Bride
of Frankenstein but role-playing was not where she wanted to stay.
(TIDBIT: Amanda did her own make-up for the part as Bride of
Frankenstein.) Although using her famous boyfriend's connections would
have been easy and Amanda would have most definitely landed a record
deal, using A.J. was not at all what Amanda wanted to do. Sadly,
after
two years together Amanda and A.J. parted ways. Just a few short
weeks
later though, Amanda's career finally took a well deserving turn down
the right road.
She's been turned down for a spot on the Mickey Mouse Club, she's
played the part of some of Disney's most beautiful heroines, she's
sang
with the Hollywood Hi-Tones, she joined Innosense but this was nothing
compared to what Amanda was about to land. Clive Davis and his record
label, J-Records (Alicia Keys, O-Town) had their eyes set of Amanda
Latona just three weeks after she submitted her demo to them. Clive
met with Amanda and after just TEN minutes, she was signed to
J-Records.
Now in 2002, Amanda's first single "Can't Take It Back" is slowly but
surely taking over the airwaves and her debut album is just around the
corner. Her striking beauty, unbelievable vocal talent, amazing
kindness towards her fans, and strong beliefs in God are guaranteed to
win over the world.

You may know her as Backstreet Boy AJ McLean's former girlfriend. You
may know her as one of the original members of the girl group
Innosense. But if you expect any bubble gum pop music on Amanda
Latona's debut album, think again.
A year ago, when I was still the Editor-In-Chief of Kiwibox.com, I
had a chance meeting with Amanda at a listening party for LFO's
second album. Being the natural goof-balls we are, Amanda, Rich
Cronin and I decided it would be funny to take pictures of them
kissing and leak them out on the Internet to start some controversy.
3 months later, Brad from LFO almost got into a fight with me because
he thought I was the one who started the rumor about Rich and Amanda.
I sat down with Amanda just 2 weeks ago for an interview. She
remembers the whole incident from last year, and after I told her
about what happened with Brad, she apologized profusely while
laughing at me out loud.
Her personality hasn't changed a bit, I thought.
But as the interview went on, I started to realize how much
everything else about her has changed: her looks, her attitude, her
music.
When I brought the subject up about the visible change, she smiled
charmingly and said "Isn't it crazy?… yea… I think I'm more into my
own. It's more like maturity." She goes on talking about her first
single "Can't Take It Back", how she just knew the first time she
heard it, "The song is sooo me!"
"Can't Take It Back" is the perfect song for a female rocker. The
song was just sent to radio stations across the country, and Amanda
was on her way to LA to shoot the music video. It's an edgy rock
anthem about telling your ex-boyfriend to get lost, written jointly
by some of the best rock music writers, one of them is none other
than Meredith Brooks. On the topic of future collaborations, Amanda
named Lenny Kravitz and Steven Tyler to be on the top of her wish
list.
Her album hits the stores in about a month. The name of the album
is "Pandamonuim" – it means "chaos" or "craziness". I complemented
her on picking such a cool name, and wondered where did the "Panda"
fit in this (the normal way to spell it is PandEmonium, not a).
Amanda got visibly excited, and she turned and showed me her tattoo
on her left arm – a panda bear playing guitar.
Then we started counting all her tattoos – she has ten!! Here's the
EXCLUSIVE list of all Amanda Latona's tattoos, only found on
Kiwibox.com – Enjoy!
Daisy on her butt
Butterfly above the daisy
The Female symbol on her back
Chinese character on her stomach meaning "Bad"
Another Chinese character below that meaning "Beautiful"
Cross on her back
Panda playing Guitar on her left arm
The words "Rock `n Roll" underneath the Panda
Ladybug on her foot
Full line of music notes on her right arm
Before we wrapped up the interview, she talked about how great it was
working with Clive Davis and everyone else at the J Records
family. "They are so cool, but also so good at what they do. Whatever
you need, just call and it's taken care of. Clive is so involved, you
don't expect someone so big to be like that, he knows every line of
my song, every bar and note, he knows everything that's going on."
